Trail to Bonete Beach
Bonete, without the shadow of a doubt, is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. The only way to reach by land it is to hike on a spectacular 12 km trail along the south shore of the island, passing by 3 wonderful waterfalls: Laje, with natural pools to swim in, Areado and Saquinho. The hike goes through the protected and old Atlantic forest, where your guide will make you discover various species of wildlife and flora. At the end of the hike, you’ll reach a mirador, from where you’ll contemplate Bonete Beach and its impressive waves, ideal for surf, and where lives one of the few left traditional Caicara communities of the island.
The hiking to Bonete Beach takes about 5 hours. To come back to our agency, you’ll have the options to either take a Caicara motorized Canoe for R$50,00 or a flex-boat for R$70,00 per person.
It’s also possible, and we highly recommend it, to stay overnight in Bonete, in one of the small pousadas within the Caicara community. A great experience to meet this fishing community and have a glimpse of their culture and traditional way of life. If you’re not sure about it, just think about the unforgettable quietness of the beach at night with a sky full of stars… If you decide to do so, you’ll come back to our agency the day after, either hiking back through the forest with a guide or taking a boat ride. Let us know if you’re interested in this option (we’ll give you price including accommodation).
A perfect trip if you’re looking for an easy day hike involving waterfalls, a remote beautiful beach and native community discovering!
